1 Corinthians 13:7
“Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”
Love is no mere sentimental emotion. A true understanding of love realizes that love is a high calling, a demanding effort that must be put forward even when we do not feel like it. Real love is selfless, it has hope for the future. It’s a supernatural gift, because apart from our union with Christ such a love is impossible. Human love has limits and conditions. God’s love is unconditional and knows no limits. We are not to love sometimes, or only when it’s easy, but ALWAYS. Love “believes” in people. It can see the potential in them. It believes that God can take the most unattractive and unworthy individual and turn that person into a masterpiece of beauty and grace. Of course, we must also be aware of danger when we see it coming, and not be so foolish as to allow others to keep harming us. But the point being made here is it’s better to believe in someone and have your heart broken than to have no heart at all. Love has been put on display by the life, death, burial and resurrection of our Lord. Remember the divine example of Christ, His perfect love that has been shown to us, and let us regard others with same kind of love. When we stand before our Lord, lets hope He’ll say of us that we loved too many, rather than too few.
